WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?

‘Neighbourhood Moves’ is a community-powered campaign designed to make physical activity more accessible for everyone in Manchester – especially in areas where it’s needed most. As the cost of living rises, staying active shouldn’t be a luxury. This campaign is here to change that.

We’re working hand-in-hand with local communities to highlight and promote the amazing activity spaces, walking routes, green areas, and local providers already on your doorstep. Together, we’re co-creating maps, stories, and opportunities that reflect the real needs and voices of each neighbourhood.

WHY IT MATTERS

This campaign is part of the wider Making Manchester Fairer strategy – Manchester’s commitment to tackling health inequalities and creating a fairer, healthier city for all. By focusing on physical activity, we’re addressing one of the key building blocks of better health and wellbeing.

• Neighbourhood Maps: Discover local activity hubs, green spaces, and community providers
• Real Stories: Meet the people behind the places – capturing and sharing short videos and social content showcasing local clubs, local providers
• Your Voice Matters: A place to share your views with your neighbourhood on how easy it is to get active

BE PART OF THE MOVEMENT

Are you a local activity provider, community group, or club passionate about getting Manchester moving? We’re looking for local providers to feature in our interactive maps, social media stories, and community engagement activities. Whether you run a walking group, dance class, football session, or anything in between – we want to hear from you!

To help ensure campaign messages truly reflect each neighbourhood, Manchester Active is offering small grants to local providers and organisations. These grants can support: Social media campaigns, Multilingual outreach, Community-led events or any alternative suggestion to encourage movement and being active.

All we ask is that your campaign connects back to the Neighbourhood Moves initiative and that you share feedback on its impact.
