LOCAL PILOT
In Manchester, we pride ourselves on our creativity, warmth and togetherness. Our bee symbol pays homage to our busy nature and aptitude for collaboration.
Like a lot of things in an ever-complex world, navigating Manchester’s structures can understandably feel overwhelming. How do you go about accessing funding for a local sports group or make changes to your local park, where would you even begin?
MACC aims to simplify these structures and outline the support available for the exciting community initiatives related to movement taking place in our city. The Manchester Local Pilot has a focus on the four wards and target audiences, a community development programme and walking and cycling initiatives.
AREAS
– Ancoats and Beswick
– Clayton and Openshaw
– Miles Platting and Newton Heath
– Woodhouse Park
PEOPLE
– Children and young people aged 5-18 in out-of-school settings
– People out of work, and people in work but at risk of becoming workless
– Adults aged 40 – 60 years, with or at risk of a long-term condition and people with a learning disability
Further information on the Pilot can be found here
The Manchester Local Pilot aims to find solutions that increase activity levels to build healthier and more active communities. Engagement with the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector is a vital part of the Pilot work. MCRactive have partnered with Macc a registered charity and support organization for the VCSE sector in Manchester to manage the Manchester Moving Fund.
Manchester has a collaborative approach that brings together organisations such as MCRactive, GM Moving, Sport England, Macc and many more. This is a network of Local Government, voluntary sector, private and national organisations who work together towards a shared objective of; improving health and increasing movement.
