Located on the Etihad Campus, the House of Sport Manchester brings together some of the key pillars of our national sporting & physical activity framework under one roof in our city. The House of Sport Manchester will act not just as a physical location, but a shared hybrid working environment tailored to inspire collaboration and the generation of new ideas that will influence the sport, health, and physical activity sectors and provide an additional unified voice across Manchester. A voice that is clearer and stronger through our collective action.
House of Sport Manchester continues the emerging strategy set-out by Sport England, as a fifth ‘house’ in the country alongside Houses of Sport in Lilleshall, Loughborough, Bisham and London. Each location servicing the need locally, opening access to offices, co-located spaces, hybrid environments, workshops and conference facilities across England as resources for all, united in the movement to connect or engage to improve our nations sport, health and physical activity journey.

The British Taekwondo Control Board Ltd, operating as British Taekwondo is the National Governing Body for World Taekwondo in Great Britain.
England Squash is the national governing body for squash and squash 57, and works collaboratively with the squash community to create a thriving, diverse and growing community. England Squash serves as a catalyst for positive change across the sporting community and is committed to accelerating equality, diversity and inclusion
Greater Manchester Moving (GM Moving) is a leading Greater Manchester charity working to change lives together through movement, physical activity, and sport.
GM Moving also plays a strategic leadership role in support of the Greater Manchester wide movement for movement, with a collective mission of active lives for all.
They are one of 43 Active Partnerships; a network of system partners working with Sport England to support the local implementation of the Uniting the Movement Strategy.
The Lancashire Cricket Foundation works across the North West to develop and deliver a range of projects, programmes and events designed to engage, excite, inspire and improve individuals and communities through cricket.
Established as the official charity of Lancashire Cricket the Lancashire Cricket Foundation provides governance for the recreational game and high quality experiences that make a positive difference to the lives of the individuals and communities we engage in order to grow the appeal of the game at all levels.
Manchester Active are a not for profit organisation established and overseen by Manchester City Council, here to inspire and encourage people to lead a more active lifestyle. Our role in the city is to work with the whole sport, physical activity and health sector to encourage and facilitate all Mancunians to move more each day.
Our operations are vast, ranging from the organising of major sporting events, facilitating neighbourhood and grassroots sport, delivery of capital projects, oversight of leisure facilities to health & wellbeing intervention and physical activity referrals.
In the spirit of building neighbourhoods across our city, we work to widen access for everyone in our city to lead healthier and more fulfilling lifestyles, in a way that works for them.
Stride UK was established in 2010 with a mission of reducing the inequalities facing children and young people in Greater Manchester. They empower individuals aged 7 – 25 years growing up in areas of deprivation to fulfil their potential by engaging them in bespoke projects across sport, mentoring and education.
The Stride UK team is made up of passionate individuals with extensive experience. They have qualified teachers, youth workers, counsellors and coaches spanning several sports.
Stride succeed in building trusted relationships, providing a wide range of opportunities in a sage and positive environment.
Manchester Schools PE Association (TeamMCR) has been working with schools for the past 25 years supporting PE, sport and physical activity. Initially formed from the amalgamation of three Manchester School Sport Partnerships (“Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links National Strategy 2002 –2010) and the more recent merger with the Manchester PE Teacher Training (MPETT), formerly the MCC PE Advisory service. TeamMCR is a school-centred charity, dedicated to helping every young person in Manchester become active, happy, and healthy through a love of movement.
We work with national and local partners, to not only tackle the wellbeing crisis but provide sporting opportunities, while using charitable status to keep school costs low. Beyond events and competitions, TeamMCR provides comprehensive support to address challenges in schools and creates whole-school impact through collaborative, wide-ranging programmes including;
- 320+ competitions & leagues for children from secondary, primary & special schools including 185 “Excel” opportunities for children who are confident & competitive, 124 “Inspire” introductory, non-competitive events & Festivals & 18 “Inclusion” events Eg; Para Laser Festival targeted at those children who are inactive or have a SEND need, across 26 sports/ activities resulting in 67,832 units of participation
- Provided 26 staff training opportunities resulting in 517 attendees
- 24 key partner opportunities; coaching programme, events, ticketing, athlete mentors
- 630+ new young volunteers developing lifelong skills resulting in 443,352 volunteering hours at over 230 sports & events,
- Primary school Health Ambassadors – creating young changemakers
- Partner project such as the RFU Schools Development Programme, FA Girls Football partnership; using football as tool to achieve the ambition that every girl will have equal access to football in school
- Piloting how we can help disaffected young people in secondary schools giving front line educators the tools to use movement to help young people with their mental health
