ACTIVE STREETS

Active Streets is a community-focused programme, overseen by Manchester Active in partnership with Manchester City Council. It transforms local residential streets into safe, car-free spaces for play, physical activity and social interaction.

WHAT IS ACTIVE STREETS?
  • Active Streets creates safe, welcoming, traffic-free spaces where residents, especially children, can play, cycle, and be active on their doorstep.
  • Encourages community interaction, giving neighbours a chance to connect and use their streets in positive ways.
  • Runs throughout the school holidays, bringing pop‑up activities directly to neighbourhoods across Manchester.

I have mobility issues and need access to my house at all times. What do I do?

Do not worry. We can be flexible and will allow access to your house under circumstances such as mobility issues.

Will you return to this street in the future?

Unfortunately it is unlikely as we run these events city-wide but you can apply to run your own by getting in touch with us activestreets@mcractive.com

Will my car be damaged?

We encourage everyone to move their vehicles off the street during the time of the Road closure, to ensure children can round around and play games/sports safely without damaging any vehicles.
