As part of our continuing expansion, Manchester Active is now looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and hard-working individual with shared values to become part of our growing team.

The Grant Officer will play a key role in the development and delivery of grant programmes and investments that support Manchester’s sporting ambitions, physical activity priorities and community wellbeing objectives.

The successful candidate will oversee the full grants lifecycle, from programme design and promotion through to assessment, award, monitoring and evaluation. You will work closely with community groups, sports clubs, voluntary organisations, major stakeholders and partners to ensure funding reaches the organisations best placed to deliver positive outcomes for Manchester residents.

This position is a fixed term role for 2 years, full time (35 hours per week) however requests for part time hours or job share will be considered.

The starting salary for this post is £37,280 per annum.

As Communications Officer, you will play a key role in delivering the charity’s communications strategy while supporting the successful delivery of selected fundraising programmes.

As part of our continuing expansion, we are now looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and hard-working individual with shared values to become part of our growing team, for a period of six months

The Major Sports Events Project Manager will play a key role in the development and delivery of events that support Manchester’s sporting ambitions, physical activity priorities and community wellbeing objectives.

The successful candidate will provide specialist coordination, and analytical support across Manchester’s major sports event pipeline and governance oversight, and operational coordination across Manchester’s portfolio of secured major sports events. The role ensures the City maintains a strategic, proactive, and investment-ready approach to identifying, assessing, and securing world‑class events.

Working closely with Manchester City Council (MCC), Marketing Manchester, national governing bodies (NGBs), venues, and UK Sport, the consultant will support Phase One activities—those required up to the point an event is secured, including strategic positioning, bid development support, governance preparation, and coordination of citywide relationships.

Once an event is confirmed, Phase Two, the consultant leads or supports stakeholder structures, Local Organising Committees (LOCs), partnerships, reporting and cross‑city planning required for successful delivery. Working alongside MCC officers, NGBs, venues, UK Sport and city partners, the Manager ensures Manchester delivers events effectively, consistently, and to national and international standards.

Estimated commitment: 2 days per week, flexing to periods of peak bidding and assessment of which we anticipate one day would be in the office.

Daily rate of pay to be agreed but circa £300 to £350.
